Breur Award Lecture  

The Breur Award Lecture is named after Prof. Klaas Breur, one of the founding fathers of ESTRO. As a tribute to Professor Breur’s pioneering work, ESTRO created this annual “Gold Medal“ award lecture in his name. The Klaas Breur Award is the highest honour that can be conferred on an ESTRO member and is awarded in recognition of the major contribution made by the winner to European Radiotherapy. The recipient of this prestigious award delivers a lecture at the ESTRO Annual Meeting.

Emmanuel van der Schueren Award  

The Emmanuel van der Schueren Award is given in honour of the founding father of ESTRO and in recognition of excellent scientific work and enormous contribution, within ESTRO, to the field of education and promotion of radiation oncology as a discipline. The recipient of this prestigious award delivers a lecture at the ESTRO Annual Meeting.

Lifetime Achievement Awards  

The Lifetime Achievement Awards are awarded to an ESTRO member who is at the end of their active career and has contributed tremendously to ESTRO activities.

Honorary Members Awards  

The Honorary Members Awards are awarded to outstanding scientific contributors in the field of oncology. The residence of the nominee is worldwide and not restricted to Europe.

Jens Overgaard Legacy Award

The Jens Overgaard Legacy Award recognises his outstanding contribution to promoting scholarly science in radiation oncology during his 25-year tenure as Editor-in-Chief of Radiotherapy & Oncology.

The Board of the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology and Elsevier, publisher of ESTRO’s Radiotherapy & Oncology, decide jointly on the recipient of this award.  
The recipient of this award delivers a lecture at the ESTRO Annual Meeting.

Regaud Award

The Regaud Award Lecture is a tribute to Claudius Regaud. Born in Lyon in 1870 and in 1911 he described the principles of fractionation from his work on the testis and in 1927 the need for quality and a multidisciplinary approach in cancer care. With Coutard, he introduced the principles of fractionation in clinical practice, a good example of translational research - "observe and translate" was his message.  
The recipient of this award delivers a lecture at the ESTRO Annual Meeting. The Regaud Award is published in the Abstract Book of the ESTRO Annual Meeting where it is presented.

ESTRO Poster Awards

ESTRO sponsors three poster awards of 1,000€ each for a Clinician, a Physicist and a Radiation TherapisT.

Criteria for selection

• Only abstracts accepted for poster presentation for ESTRO 2021 will be considered for the award.

• Posters are evaluated on (in decreasing order of importance): the scientific value of the data; the clarity of the presentation; and the visual quality of the poster layout.

• Priority will be given to posters from young investigators.

How to apply

No application is needed. You are automatically considered if your abstract is accepted. Prizes will be handed out at the ESTRO 2021 Poster Reception on Saturday 28 August 2021.

 CTRO, PHIRO, TIPSRO Young Investigators Awards  

The CTRO, PHIRO, TIPSRO Young Investigators Awards are presented under the auspices of ESTRO’s journals, Clinical & Translational Radiation Oncology (ctRO), Physics & Imaging in Radiation Oncology (phiRO), and Technical Innovations & Patient Support in Radiation Oncology (tipsRO) and are sponsored by Elsevier.

The winners are entitled to a grant of 1,000€ and are invited to submit a paper to the awarding journal which will be published at no cost to the author if accepted following the peer-review process.

Criteria for selection

  • Only abstracts accepted for poster presentation for ESTRO 2021, by authors under 40 years of age, will be considered for the award.
  • Posters are evaluated on (in decreasing order of importance): the scientific value of the data; the clarity of the presentation; and the visual quality of the poster layout.

How to apply

No application is needed. You are automatically considered if your abstract is accepted. Prizes will be handed out at the ESTRO 2021 Poster Awards Ceremony on Saturday 28 August 2021.

A prize of 1,000€ will be given for the best abstract in the field of radiation physics or radiation technology submitted for ESTRO 2021.

CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates should be an ESTRO member for the year 2021.
  • All ESTRO members under 36 (with the exception of corporate members) are eligible to apply.  
  • Exceptions will be made for female applicants who had to interrupt their research for pregnancy/maternity reasons, for them the maximum age is fixed at 40.  

HOW TO APPLY

Candidates should submit one PDF file by email to Jessica Pledge containing, in this order:

  • A curriculum vitae (maximum 4 pages).
  • A letter from their department head stating that the work has been done by the applicant.
  • A copy of the abstract on radiation physics or radiation technology which should have been submitted for ESTRO 2021 (indicate abstract number, abstract title and submitting author with your application).

Deadline to apply: 15 March 2021 (23:59 CET).
